drop us an email at [email protected] * the parks are administered by angusalive and provide a large variety of facilities. boat fishing only the club provides fly fishing for brown and rainbow trout in three ponds – they’re known as ponds but are huge loch-size stretches of water – spread between the two parks; with the bailiff's hut (complete with tea, coffee and microwave facilities) being located in monikie country park. we have 21 boats available (11 on the island, 6 on the north and 4 on crombie) to members and visitors; including visiting clubs. anglers are welcome to use their own electric outboard motors, but none are available for hire. in monikie country park, fishing is available for brown and rainbow trout on both the island and north ponds. the fishing at crombie country park is for brown trout only. please note that on all ponds it is fly fishing only and no bank fishing is permitted. please also note that only club boats can be used for angling, and no anchoring is permitted. also, anglers must wear lifejackets, provided by the club, at all times while on the water. session dates the 2018 fishing session dates are: all ponds open on wednesday 14th march 2018 crombie will close on friday 6th october 2018 island pond and north pond will close on saturday 17th november 2018 evening sessions will run from saturday 21st april until friday 25th august 2018. session times day session (whole season) - 09:30 - 16:30. evening session - 17:00 - closing time advertised at bailiff’s hut. there are some big fish in the monikie waters with last season's heaviest fish weighing in at 6 lb 4 oz. one thing that is certain about all of monikie's fish – they are all high quality, fully finned, hard fighting trout. to paraphrase a well know tv advert, club members widely consider monikie to be: “probably the best value fishing in scotland” just ask dennis hamilton (pictured). “i caught the biggest fish ever taken from monikie waters. “i remember it well. it was the 9th of april, 2010, and i was fishing with my friend, david. “the weather was good with a gentle south-west breeze across the island pond near the craigton bank. i was fishing an intermediate line and the monster rainbow took a green and black goldhead. “it was quite a gentle take but the fish fought hard and it must have taken about 20 minutes to bring it to the boat. “david managed to get it in the net and it looked like a salmon in the bottom of the boat. we were overjoyed. we couldn’t believe a fish that size was in the pond. “at 10 lb 12 oz, it was – and still is – the biggest fish taken from monikie waters. “it won me fish of the month, and fish of the year, 2010, and i was presented with the eric jeffrey memorial shield at the agm.” get in touch address: monikie angling club, monikie country park, dundee dd5 3qn. phone/email phone: 01382 370300 to book a boat. email: [email protected] © 2018 monikie angling club contact webmaster
